Body Composition Analysis NYC
Body-composition analysis at W8MD Brooklyn helps patients look beyond BMI and track fat mass, lean mass, waist and strength during medical weight loss.

The scale cannot distinguish fat, muscle, fluid or bone. Body-composition estimates add useful context but are not perfectly precise and should be interpreted with trends, examination and health outcomes.
What W8MD may measure
- Weight, BMI and waist circumference.
- Estimated body-fat percentage and fat mass.
- Estimated lean or fat-free mass.
- Segmental or visceral-fat estimates when supported by the device.
- Strength, function and progress photographs with consent.
Why it matters during GLP-1 treatment
Effective weight loss includes fat loss but can also include lean-mass loss. W8MD uses protein planning, progressive resistance activity and appropriate pacing to protect strength. Hydration, meals, exercise and time of day can change bioimpedance results, so measurements should be performed under reasonably consistent conditions.
Limits
Body-composition devices do not diagnose disease and are not equivalent to DXA. Pregnancy, implanted devices, edema and other factors can affect whether and how testing is performed.
